Bridge @ CR50 & Kiowa Creek, Bennett, CO
12/07/2002
Found Online
I found this on the ParaFPI web site. There is a link to the investigation below.
Our Investigation
If you go out there:
1. CR50 is a dirt road.
2. The posted speed limit in the area of the bridge is 40mph.
3. Just before the bridge, there is a 10% down grade.
4. I would HIGHLY recommend going the speed limit, if not slower.
The investigation by ParaFPI is why we went to this bridge. When we arrived at the bridge, it was 3:30pm, on Dec. 7, 2002 The temp at 3:30pm was 42F (5.5C). When we got there, there was a few people in motorcycles racing about a quarter mile away on their property. They quit for about 10 minutes. For those ten eerie minutes, it was silent except for the birds. There were a couple cold spots in the bridge at the time too. My fingers were numb by the time we got in the car to leave. We stayed until 3:55pm, to later return that evening. When we came back to the bridge, it was 7:15pm. The temp at 7:15pm was 30F (-1.1C), but on the bridge, it was 24F (-4.4C). When we arrived, we were a bit uneasy, but within a few minutes, we were both fine. We can both verify the drumming being heard. It came from the direction of photo 16. We both heard it twice for about 7 to 10 seconds each time. We stayed until neither of us could stand the cold. It was 7:35pm when we left. I would HIGHLY recommend reading the investigation and research done by ParaFPI. As I said earlier, the link is below.
